Blue Box Belper is a Registered Charity (no.1178483), which aims to improve the quality of life for the residents of the Parks Estate (Belper). We do this through providing and supporting a range of local activities, as well as seeking to build a new Blue Box Community Facility (see proposed design above), which will become a hub for the local community.  We are actively fundraising and finalising plans for the new building, and are always looking for local volunteers to help further the building project and support current activities.

We have now secured planning permission for the new Blue Box Community Centre. We are now applying for significant grants and increasing our fundraising activity.

We have also been successful in securing £9,885 for supporting youth activities on the Parks Estate. Youth workers from The Blend Youth Project will start detached youth work on Wednesday 18th March.

Blue Box Belper became a charity in May 2018, following its initial formation by several residents as a constituted community group in 2012. The aims of the original group were to build the capacity for activities for children and young people on the Parks Estate, hosted from the original Blue Box building.

However, an arson attack in August 2014 resulted in the original Blue Box building being demolished in 2015. We then spent time consulting residents around the needs of the Parks Estate and following research formed the charity Blue Box Belper and began to develop plans for a new Community Centre, which will serve the needs of the whole community.

We have now received planning permission for this new building and are currently raising funds to make it a reality.

Whilst our focus has been on developing the building project, Blue Box Belper has also been developing community activities and initiatives, in order to increase community engagement ahead of the new Community Centre. These activities will then transfer to the new Community Centre once it is built.

We rely on lots of volunteers to help deliver our regular activities and help progress the project to rebuild the new Community Centre. If you can help in any way, please do get in touch. We need volunteers to help:

- Run activities/events

- Support fundraising activities

- Become a trustee

- Write funding applications

- Deliver newsletters

- Become actively involved in one of our sub-groups supporting our key activities.
