Supporting young people on the Parks Estate is a key priority for Blue Box Belper, and has been since we began life as a constituted community group in 2012. More recently we have been working closely with the Blend Youth Project, who attend the Parks Estate weekly, to provide essential support to young people aged 11 to 18 in the form of information, support and guidance along with offering sexual health advice.
The team has been out on Tuesday evenings (5-7pm) providing a range of activities whilst giving essential support to those who need it. This detached youth work provision is funded by Belper Town Council and during the winter months the sessions are run from the Alder Road Centre. Blend are working with other agencies who attend some of the sessions on Tuesdays 5-7pm on the Park alongside Park Road. These have included Fleet Arts, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Derby County Community Trust.
In addition, and when a need arises, Blue Box Belper has supported Blend to deliver bespoke small group sessions, one-to-one mentoring, and holiday activities, which has in the past been funded by local groups such as Hope for Belper.
